Our Curriculum:
A Path to Lifelong Learning
At Alphabet House Nurseries, we understand that the early years of a child’s life are crucial for setting the foundation for their future. That’s why our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to support your child’s growth and development, offering a blend of structured learning and creative play.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, ensuring that each child receives a well-rounded education, rooted in both academic and emotional development. By combining the EYFS with Montessori principles, we focus on nurturing every child’s unique potential, helping them develop into confident, curious, and capable learners.
Holistic Learning for Every Child
Our approach to early childhood education is about more than just academic skills. It’s about helping children grow socially, emotionally, and physically in a safe and stimulating environment. Our curriculum is designed to support all areas of learning and development, including:
Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: Encouraging children to form positive relationships, build self-confidence, and understand and manage their emotions.
Communication and Language: Developing listening and speaking skills, as well as promoting early literacy through storytelling, songs, conversation, home learning opportunities, and meaningful interactions.
Physical Development: Strengthening motor skills, coordination, and promoting overall health and well-being through daily activities, outdoor play, community outings, and active exploration.
Literacy and Mathematics: Introducing early concepts of reading, writing, and numeracy in fun, engaging ways that spark curiosity and creativity.
Understanding the World: Encouraging children to explore people, technology, nature, cultures, celebrations, and the wider community through our Alpha Explorers programme, STEM experiences, and local partnerships.
Expressive Arts and Design: Fostering creativity through art, music, movement, and role play, allowing children to express their thoughts and ideas.

Montessori-Inspired Learning
At Alphabet House, we integrate Montessori principles throughout our curriculum, encouraging independence, confidence, and curiosity. Children are empowered to make choices, develop self-discipline, explore their interests, and learn through hands-on experiences within carefully planned environments that nurture a lifelong love of learning.

Tailored Learning for Each Child
We believe that every child is unique, and our curriculum is designed to reflect this. Through a child-led approach, observations, and meaningful interactions, we tailor learning to each child’s interests, abilities, and stage of development. Our dedicated key workers ensure every child feels supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

Play-Based Learning: The Heart of Our Curriculum
We know that children learn best through play. Through imaginative play, STEM activities, creative experiences, and practical life skills programmes such as Mini Masterchefs, children develop confidence, problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Working in Partnership with Parents
We believe children thrive when home and nursery work together. So we keep parents involved in their child’s learning journey through regular communication, learning updates, and our Home Learning programme. We encourage you to share your child’s interests, milestones or routines so we can tailor their learning experience to support their development, confidence, and love of learning.

A Curriculum Built for the Future
The Alpha Curriculum combines academic learning, creativity, practical life skills, and real-world experiences to prepare children for their next steps. From STEM and cultural exploration to independent learning, we nurture confident, curious, resilient learners ready for the future.
