Funded Places
Free Early Learning for 2-Year-Olds
Eligible 2-year-olds may receive up to 15 hours of funded childcare per week. Funding is available from the term after your child's second birthday for families who meet the government's eligibility criteria. This funding is not automatically available to all 2-year-olds.
Free Early Learning for 3 and 4-Year-Olds (Nursery Education Funding)
All 3 and 4-year-olds in England are entitled to 15 hours of funded early education per week. Eligible working families may also qualify for up to 30 hours of funded childcare.
Funding is provided by the government across 38 weeks of the year. At The Alphabet House Nurseries, we offer funded places through a stretched funding model, allowing families to benefit from their funded hours across the year rather than term-time only.

Our Stretched Funding Offer
At The Alphabet House Nurseries, we only offer stretched funding. Stretched funding allows your child's funded entitlement to be spread across up to 51 weeks of the year, rather than being used solely during the 38 school-term weeks. This means your child can attend nursery more consistently throughout the year, helping maintain routines, support continuity of learning, and reduce the need for additional childcare arrangements during school holidays.
Benefits of our stretched funding model include:
Year-round childcare support
Greater flexibility for working families
Consistent routines and familiar environments for children
Continued learning and development throughout the year
Reduced childcare costs during school holiday periods
Our team can explain exactly how your funded hours are allocated and help you choose the attendance pattern that best suits your family's needs.
