How we learn ...

At The Alphabet House Nursery Schools' we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. We believe that every child deserves the best start to life and the EYFS principles provide each child with the potential to excel. Our nurseries encourage 'child-led' learning, allowing your child to learn through play and explore their environment.

All our nurseries have a home corner and dressing up area, for children to role play and learn about the practicalities of life. Various messy play stations are set up throughout the day for children to explore different textures and develop their creativity. We believe strongly in developing literacy from a young age and every classroom at all of our centres has a book corner. Children are motivated to read at leisure.

What are the EYFS Principles?

A unique child

✿ Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive relationships

✿ Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

Enabling environments

✿ The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning

Learning and developing in different ways and at different rates

✿ Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected
