Over Two's (Pre-School)
Our curriculum for the over Twos is based mostly on the Montessori method of education.
This includes a prepared environment with areas of the curriculum which includes practical life, care of the self, refinement of the senses, language and vocabulary skills, science, drama, creative art, physical education, music and creative movement , development of number concepts and mathematical operations (addition and subtraction) as well as an awareness of our environment geographically and historically.
Our children are encouraged to be independent and be of good behaviour. This is fostered by our well-defined rules and our daily routines.
At Alphabet House Nursery School our children learn the letters of the alphabet through letters and sounds using phonological awareness.
In our bid to make our children world class citizens, French is included in the curriculum. Other areas of the learning and activities include French (which is taught by a specialist teacher), computer work, visits to the theatre and parks, gardening and library visits.
By the time our children leave for 'big school', amongst other things, they are able to socialise freely, work independently, as well as in groups, write their own names, read and write simple words, do mathematical operations and subtractions and also talk extensively about their environment and other parts of the world.
